- Thom's Short Comment: Nikon makes strong claims about low flare, lack of focus breathing, focus speed and precision. They are promoting this as a breakthrough lens design at the focal length, much like they did the NOCT. And guess what? I find that they've mostly delivered on those claims. The best autofocus 50mm Nikon has produced, though it's big and heavy.
